In May 2019 Chesed Shel Emes launched our first fundraising campaign since the 1940's, when the Chapel was built. Funds raised in the Capital campaign were earmarked to replace and equip the 115-year-old south building which served as the home of the Chevra Kadisha since 1930.
Our new facility, designed specifically for our unique needs, opened May 1, 2021. We are grateful to the hundreds of community members who supported the campaign, helping us raise over $3.8 million.
Fundraising continues as we furnish the building and grow our Endowment Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
A new chapter begins — for the dignity of the deceased; for the safety of volunteers and staff; for the comfort of those who mourn; and for the well-being of a community that has always found a way to care for the deceased and comfort their families.
The following list is a work in progress.
As we serve the entire community, we are thrilled to have support from a wide range of community members. More than 900 donors have given generously to our Capital Campaign with gifts large and small.
Gifts of cash or securities are eligible for a tax receipt. Pledges may be honored over 1, 2 or 3 years. Gifts of 1000.00 and over will be recognized on a donor recognition wall in the new building.
Join us as we build on our tradition of lovingkindness for generations to come.
